Lent begins with our Ash Wednesday Worship Service on February 14th at 7:oo p.m. We will offer our confessions to God and lift them by burning our written words during worship, creating ashes in the process.
Lent is a 40 day period, not counting the Sundays, in which we can turn our attention to God in an effort to increase or build upon our relationship with God. There are many ways that we can do that and we encourage you to explore options that would work best for you. For some, giving up something they like or desire during Lent is a way to make a personal sacrifice. This we can relate to the sacrifice that Jesus has made for us. Another way to enhance our connection with God is by adding a service or intentional action to our lives. This can be done as a means to share God’s love with others and is an impactful way to be in relationship with God and the life we are called to lead. Increasing our personal and family prayer life is a perfect way to refocus our attention towards God. We are called to turn away from the things of this world and give thanks and praise to God for all that we have. Consider ways to rejuvenate your prayer life and the rituals that are practiced within your family.
Resources for our Lenten Journey will be available for adults, children and families during a special coffee hour hosted by the Christian Education Team on Sunday, Feb 11th. Feel free to check out what they offer to see if it is something that will enhance your Lenten experience.
